Caden in 2003   January Birthdays - ** Vicki**

SITE UPDATED: Jan 1, 2008

On August 5, 2006, tragically we lost our 3 year old grandson, Caden.  Kim and I grieve for his loss and for the relentless heartache that Chris and Carrie live with.  We have faith that God is now Caden's keeper and in time, the heavy aching burden will be lifted from Chris and Carrie's hearts.  Caden will forever live and play in our hearts.  If you would like to see pictures of Caden, please click on his picture.

Why Are We Doing This?

How We Got Here

We Will Miss Dad Hackl

Welcome to Don and Kim Simpson's very first web site. Admittedly, much work is needed so stop by often and look for the improvements and updates.  Doing something like this feels strangely narcissistic, but we hope this turns out to be a good way for us to share with family and friends events, both current and past, along with the pictures that were taken along the way.

The site primarily contains family pictures of Don & Kim, our kids, Emerson and Chris, and of course, our grandchildren (sigh...really feeling old!)

As we learn, we hope to add other features and content to the site; constructive suggestions are welcomed - YES REALLY! J

We found our way to Nebraska courtesy of the U.S. Air Force.  Offutt Air Force Base was our twilight assignment in the summer of 1995.  When we showed up in Nebraska, it was 105 degrees with flies whose bite could draw blood.  We had heard the horror stories about the Midwest winters but, we were quite unprepared for the extreme heat & carnivorous flies.

Prior to our assignment to Offutt AFB,  Nebraska we had been in Stuttgart, Germany for 4 years.  We were at Patch Barracks in  Vaihingen Germany where Kim was assigned to Headquarters, US European Command & Don worked for the US European Command  Flight Detachment located at the Stuttgart International airport.  Kim worked in the Intelligence directorate for US EUCOM and Don did something with UH1H helicopters.   Tell me more...

Dad HacklOn August 22, 2006, Dad (Ray) Hackl unexpectedly passed away in Glendale, Arizona from a ruptured abdominal aorta; he was 86.  Ray was Don and Ray Simpson's step-father, married to our mother Edna; for over 30 years.  To view photos of Ray and mom as well as other family photos click here.

More News

More Family NewsEmerson our oldest son and Kim Jr. have moved from Council Bluffs and headed back to Dallas Texas, The Big D.  Actually they have moved to a small town east of Dallas called Wyle Texas.  They have bought a new home there so it looks like they are going to stay.  Emer who works for Ford Financial closed their operations here & Emerson has be reassigned to the office in Irving Texas.  Kim Jr. has also found a job in Dallas and they both begin their new jobs March 5th.  The girls, Mercedes and McKayla remained in Nebraska until the end of the school year but have not rejoined mom and dad in Texas. We hated to see them go but of course hope that this works well for all.

Mom's New Crib

Mt Rushmore

In November mom moved into her new place in Sun City West!  Ray and Ramona worked tirelessly to get mom moved out of her old place in Glendale and into her new place.  They got the old place cleaned up and ready to sell.  She has a real nice place and most importantly, it is in a much SAFER area and we are happy with that.  If you want to see a few pictures of her place, click on the link below:

MOM'S NEW CRIB

On the 14th of September we will make a short trip to Mt. Rushmore!  Both of us have always wanted to go and finally we have decided it is time to finally do it.  We have been here in Nebraska for over 11 years and each year we have talked about going but - well, you know the story...  Anyway, Rapid City is only about a days drive from here and we are looking forward to seeing Rushmore and the surrounding area of Deadwood and the Black Hills.  Check back in a couple of weeks and I should have plenty pictures of dead presidents!
